Autism Awareness Day 2018

 Autumn

Autumn

#AUTUMN (age 9)  lives in Westfield, MA with her mother Yvette and father. Autumn and her family are participants in "Portraits of Autism."  Portraits of Autism explores the relationship and impact autistic children have within their immediate family and community. Using visual art, this body of work creates a platform for social awareness while opening up a discussion about available support systems, funding and housing for both children and adults diagnosed on the Spectrum.

"Today is Autism awareness day. All I ask is that you please ask your children to include the child who is having trouble making friends or keeping a conversation going, or the one who is playing alone. Many with Autism know they weren't included or weren't invited, but just don't know why. Sometimes Autism is all encompassing and sometimes it is so subtle it goes unnoticed. Unfortunately, sometimes the child goes unnoticed too.

Please teach acceptance, and inclusion ❤ These special children have so much to offer, including the most amazing talents, attention to detail and passion. They truly see the world from a different point of view. It’s a treat to see things from their perspective if you take the time and enter their world."
